My heart sinks…

March 14, 2011

as Japan’s crisis deepens, every passing minute…

For tonight’s Family Bible Prayer session, we read and pondered on the Daily Bread + today’s reading – it was about US with our WHY questions.

Why do people have to die?

Why are the earthquakes getting more rampant?

Why do we feel so helpless?

What God is doing you may not know now,
But someday you’ll understand why;
Questions that taunt you and trouble your mind
Will one day have heaven’s reply. —Hess

For us Christians, we believe that these are all signs, indicating that the second coming of our Lord is near.

Unfortunately, with the press, media, apocalypse movies, all sorts of prophecies, we paid more attention on ‘the suffering’ part.

More precisely, we dwelt on ‘THE END IS NEAR.’

We are not exactly to be blamed, as those were the messages being promoted by the world now.

We became overwhelmed with FEAR.

Fear of not being able to achieve our dreams and goals.

Fear of losing everything.

Fear of death.

In fact, we are so blinded by our fears, we failed to realise that the coming of the Lord is supposed to be a celebration.

A tribulation.

The sign of His new reign.

The end of worldly sufferings.

The mark of a new beginning.

I am not trying to be self-righteous here.

I am scared.

I have my doubts too. Of the unknown.

In fact, I have been having thoughts of –

What do I feel before I was born?

Did I even exist in another realm?

Thoughts like these give me the chills. The unknown world seems so mysterious, and extremely terrifying.

Because us humans, like to be in control. It is damn frustrating when we could not grasp the understanding of the unknown.

I know the earth is growing sicker by the day. More and more disasters are going to happen. More and more questions of mine will be left unanswered.

So I pray, that God will give me peace in my heart:

To not overthink, over-reason, but to trust Him that He has His reasons, and just be prepared for His coming.

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him (Matthew 24:42-44).

On a more heartwarming note,

A baby girl was found in Ishinomaki yesterday, a coastal town northeast of Sendai smashed by the tsunami.

Members of the Japanese Self Defence Force marvelled at the four-month-old’s survival, wrapping her in a pink jacket and transporting her to safety.

I hope she grows up well ~

    Celebration? You’re right!
The world is gloomy & mellow because they are coming to an end while we should celebrate because we have something beyond that to look forward to!

your two cents?
