Happy Birthday Poh Lin!!!

March 2, 2013

it seemed just like yesterday,

that we would msn each other while we were in the same room,

that we would msn each other while separated by oceans and continents,

that we would upgrade ourselves to whatsapping and kicking msn out of our lives,

that we would reply to tweets, comment on fb, and meet up in good ol taiping during our school breaks…

but it wasn’t just yesterday,

that we bummed into each other during IPBA’s registration, and started on this friendship,

with me sleeping ‘on top of you’,

bitching together,

grossing each other out with our toilet description,

laughing at your inability to butter a slice of bread,

you being all gung ho and supportive during my fallen relationships and failed friendships,

and me being a tad too protective when i psycho-ed victor to take good care of you hahahahahahahaha..

Time does fly..

and you are now TWENTY-SIX!!!!!!! (definitely don’t look your age. which makes me real jealous. lol)

Even so,

Food and Us. Do not read this when you are hungry. You have been warned.

February 23, 2013

Much overdue, but I would like to take this time to bring me, and my readers to two important parts of me – my heart, and my stomach… lol.

This is gonna be a soapy post again, and one that makes you growl in the food department, just because my love story, always, i repeat.. ALWAYS revolve around food, as we are both gluttons and we LOVE food as much as each other.

Due to the nature of our relationship, we don’t get to see each other and be physically around much. And as Alex puts is, we get 5 weeks together in a year 😥

Knowing how hard it is for those days to come by, we often make full use of it… indulging in each other’s company, and food.

It could be something as simple as the caramelised toast that he made for me to go with the delicious hot chocolate he prepared…

or a fancy eat out…which happens a lot.. and i will be finally sharing them with all of you.. *evil grin*

One of the things we both love? Korean food.

And I had always been easily satisfied with my student’s meal in Nol Bu Ne, until Alex had to spoil me with really really tasty experience in Faro.

Now, Nol Bu Ne will not cut it for me anymore.. huaaaaa…

Let me tempt you with our delicious meal in Faro!

We went for their Ara Set Menu ($80 for 2) and our appetizers were

Jeon (korean styled pancakes enveloping kimchi, fish and vegetable, served with soy and rice vinegar dip)

Ojing-O Salad (Steamed calamari with hot and spicy dressing)

Faro Salad,

Various Meat Combination (Marinated beef, pork scotch, marinated chicken and two huge prawns),

and 12 side dishes!!! (My fav were the seaweed, pickled radish and the buttery mashed potatoes!)

We were super full by then… but they still came with a bibimbap for us to share!

and it was NOT a small portion.

Lastly, dessert (the best part of a meal) was… deng deng deng..

green tea ice cream!!! So smooth and fragrant!

So yea, for those looking for a nice, quality reassured korean meal and has more money to spare, do try out Faro Korean Barbeque! They are doing so well that there are 3 branches around Auckland CBD! (this is not an ad, but a rave review yo!)

Next, to something a lot sweeeeeeter… ICE CREAM!!!!

Both of us are huge fans of GOOD ice-cream, and we can be quite picky with our sweet tooth lol.

Alex found this pretty cool lil cafe, and has been telling me so much about it that i made him promise me to bring me there as his first priority! lol.

We cordially invite you to… Kohu Road Cafe!

With quirky interior design,

and extensive menu… Kohu Road is of course famous for their ice cream!

and thanks to Alex’s recommedation, i ordered affogato with Salted Caramel ice cream, and GOSH I NEED ONE NOW!!!

and you get, some real creamy goodness!

Their savoury items were pretty good too, as we ordered these to share!

Now we give some love to the japanese~~~

Here’s pictures of our yummy dinner at Tanto, our personal favorite, that happens to be near Alex’s house too!

(to know whether a Japanese restaurant is of any good, make sure its frequent by the japanese more than kiwis lol)

me waiting impatiently for the food to be served lol

and the appetizer came! It was their specialty of the day – semi grilled and smoked tuna with salad! Very very good!

our soft-shell crab rolls

karaange chicken! So crispy and not oily at all!

Salmon and Tuna Sashimi

Owanmushii for two (steamed egg with seafood and chicken)

finally… the best part of the meal again…

the dessert!

mine’s the one on the bottom – Green Tea Brulee with Lemon Sorbet, and Alex’s was Matcha ice cream with some black sesame dessert which i can’t quite remember the name lol

Didn’t realise this entry was gonna be so long and I still had so many places to cover!

Till the next post then 😉

How sad is it that after posting all these beautiful food i have to make my quaker oat for dinner… good times always go by too fast huhuhu

Snippets of Life as a Teacher in Gua Musang~

February 22, 2013

An attempt to balance out the ‘wordiness’ of the previous post! 😛

#1 Decided to give my colleagues ole-ole (translation: souvenirs) from New Zealand! Bought some mini Whittakers, Mcintosh toffees, and Manuka honey lemon drops from Comvita~~~ all tucked in pretty rainbow bags! 😉

#2 Getting sweet treats from colleagues! ❤ ❤ ❤

#3 the penpal project that I have been overseeing (Writing With A Purpose) been doing pretty good so far. Have delivered and received replies, and now my kids are on to their second exchange! The topic i gave them for this round is to write about their favourite type of music, and dedicate a song (with lyrics attached) to their penpal!

#4 Became one of the teacher advisors for the Chinese Society of the school! (Was placed in the computer club and English language society for the previous years hmmm..)

and we had a few activities thus far, started way earlier than other societies and here are some pictures of our 挥春比赛!

and i decided to give it a try, after not touching calligraphy for possibly more than 10 years lol

(quite rusty and some wordings were a lil off huhu)

#5 Had a ‘proud mama’ moment when my ex students (my first batch of students) came back to visit during their college’s semester break!

#6 Managed to fool around in school with an equally sporting and fun colleague cum friend 😉

(that was us camwhoring in a boring meeting lol)

and finally….

#7 I decided to change my look, and went for curls!!!

(but due to my naturally straight hair, the curls have become much much softer.. in only days.. huhuhu..)

who says a teacher can’t be vain?

and that’s about it, at least those I actually had pictures to elaborate on 😛

now, when is my fiance gonna be back from his martial arts training so that we could chat on our anniversary? Hmmmm…

oh yeah, let’s end with

#8 ( a good number for the chinese lol)

for the first time, i did an international transaction using my credit card and surprised my very hard at work man with some Whoopie Pies!

and it was so freaking cute that when he received the box of goodies quite early in the morning (most of his colleagues were not in yet), he quickly made a trip home to keep his whoopies! lol

When I asked him why did he do that and that he could share those with his work mates, he answered, “Never. Never when it’s from you!” hahahahahahahaha

I love how despite the long time frame,

We are still so in love 😉

(cringing yet? hehehe)

May everyone find love worth fighting for!

God bless!
