Food and Us. Do not read this when you are hungry. You have been warned.

February 23, 2013

Much overdue, but I would like to take this time to bring me, and my readers to two important parts of me – my heart, and my stomach… lol.

Yup.

This is gonna be a soapy post again, and one that makes you growl in the food department, just because my love story, always, i repeat.. ALWAYS revolve around food, as we are both gluttons and we LOVE food as much as each other.

Due to the nature of our relationship, we don’t get to see each other and be physically around much. And as Alex puts is, we get 5 weeks together in a year 😥

Knowing how hard it is for those days to come by, we often make full use of it… indulging in each other’s company, and food.

It could be something as simple as the caramelised toast that he made for me to go with the delicious hot chocolate he prepared…

or a fancy eat out…which happens a lot.. and i will be finally sharing them with all of you.. *evil grin*

.

One of the things we both love? Korean food.

And I had always been easily satisfied with my student’s meal in Nol Bu Ne, until Alex had to spoil me with really really tasty experience in Faro.

Now, Nol Bu Ne will not cut it for me anymore.. huaaaaa…

Let me tempt you with our delicious meal in Faro!

.

We went for their Ara Set Menu ($80 for 2) and our appetizers were

25

Jeon (korean styled pancakes enveloping kimchi, fish and vegetable, served with soy and rice vinegar dip)

and

Ojing-O Salad (Steamed calamari with hot and spicy dressing)

.

Then,

26

Faro Salad,

Various Meat Combination (Marinated beef, pork scotch, marinated chicken and two huge prawns),

and 12 side dishes!!! (My fav were the seaweed, pickled radish and the buttery mashed potatoes!)

.

We were super full by then… but they still came with a bibimbap for us to share!

27

and it was NOT a small portion.

.

Lastly, dessert (the best part of a meal) was… deng deng deng..

28

green tea ice cream!!! So smooth and fragrant!

.

So yea, for those looking for a nice, quality reassured korean meal and has more money to spare, do try out Faro Korean Barbeque! They are doing so well that there are 3 branches around Auckland CBD! (this is not an ad, but a rave review yo!)

.

Next, to something a lot sweeeeeeter… ICE CREAM!!!!

Both of us are huge fans of GOOD ice-cream, and we can be quite picky with our sweet tooth lol.

Alex found this pretty cool lil cafe, and has been telling me so much about it that i made him promise me to bring me there as his first priority! lol.

We cordially invite you to… Kohu Road Cafe!

With quirky interior design,

.

and thanks to Alex’s recommedation, i ordered affogato with Salted Caramel ice cream, and GOSH I NEED ONE NOW!!!

11

12

and you get, some real creamy goodness!

13

.

Their savoury items were pretty good too, as we ordered these to share!

14

15

.

Now we give some love to the japanese~~~

Here’s pictures of our yummy dinner at Tanto, our personal favorite, that happens to be near Alex’s house too!

(to know whether a Japanese restaurant is of any good, make sure its frequent by the japanese more than kiwis lol)

42

.

43

me waiting impatiently for the food to be served lol

.

and the appetizer came! It was their specialty of the day – semi grilled and smoked tuna with salad! Very very good!

44

.

our soft-shell crab rolls

45

.

karaange chicken! So crispy and not oily at all!

46

.

Salmon and Tuna Sashimi

47

.

Owanmushii for two (steamed egg with seafood and chicken)

48

and

finally… the best part of the meal again…

the dessert!

49

mine’s the one on the bottom – Green Tea Brulee with Lemon Sorbet, and Alex’s was Matcha ice cream with some black sesame dessert which i can’t quite remember the name lol

.

.

Didn’t realise this entry was gonna be so long and I still had so many places to cover!

Till the next post then 😉

How sad is it that after posting all these beautiful food i have to make my quaker oat for dinner… good times always go by too fast huhuhu
